The Leg Up’s UPC Showdown Roughie Report – Saturday, June 28 2025

Better then most punters?

Give it a go to see if you have what it takes to redeem the massive cheque each week.

The curtain closes on Group 1 racing for the 2024/25 season with Tatts Tiara Day at Eagle Farm — and what a race it is this year. There’s wide-open value in the feature, and a few sneaky each-way plays across the Rosehill and Eagle Farm support cards to keep the leaderboard action rolling right to the end.

Here are four value picks you way should be including in your Showdown ticket:

Leg 4 – Eagle Farm R6 – #7 Little Mix

She’s back in the same race where she ran third as a 3YO, and it’s clearly been a long-range target again. She found the line well first-up at the mile, and although she sat closer last start and was only fair, she now gets to 2100m third-up, where she’s ready to peak. Backmarker with a turn of foot, and worth a look at each-way odds.

Leg 6 – Rosehill R8 – #13 Kazalark

He’s been slow to wind up after 882 days off, but now fourth-up, he looks ready to fire. Forgive last start from the wide draw — he got too far back and had no clear running late. He gets a senior rider on, a better barrier, and should settle closer in the run. Sharp improver and overs in this market.

Leg 9 – Rosehill R9 – #9 Age Of Kings

Race 9, Number 9 — maybe we’re pushing our luck, but this one smells like a Chris Waller set-up. He’s only won twice, but one was at Royal Ascot. Waller has hinted that they’ve found the key to him, and now he steps to 2000m for the first time. Big odds, trust the yard.

Leg 10 – Eagle Farm R8 – #6 Coeur Volante

She gave weight to the field in the Helen Coughlan and still hit the line with intent. Now she meets them 3kg better, draws wide but can roll forward, and loves dry ground. Form stacks up, and this stable doesn’t aim them at Group 1s for nothing. Best value play in the Tiara at double digits.

Final Word

That’s a wrap on Group 1 racing for the season — but not on your Showdown bragging rights. Whether you’re playing for the week, the ladder or just glory, these four runners shape as genuine points-boosters to close the month in style.

Let’s finish the carnival on a high! 🐎🏆💰

PANTHERS v BULLDOGS The Panthers are a great value tip, despite the fact they have just worked their way into the top eight for the first time this season. The Panthers have finally got their defence sorted and are a nice leg to throw into any multi at $2.15. SEA

Round 15 Review Wiserthan topped round 15 with 13.43 points, only missing a perfect round because they tipped St Kilda to beat Collingwood! There were 3 underdogs who got up with Brisbane breaking a 25 year curse at GMHBA beating Geelong, while North Melbourne basically ended Carltons finals aspirations and

TIGERS v RAIDERS Even the skinny odds of $1.34 looks good value for the Raiders. I’d carry that as a multi option into any other bets I take. The Tigers’ edge defence has been vulnerable most of this season so a Raiders win into Jed Stuart and Xavier Savage anytime
